Non-urgent advice: Booking an appointment
Make an appointment by calling 0161 790 3033
We offer pre bookable appointments up to 6 weeks in advance. A number of appointments are reserved for genuine emergencies. If you require an emergency on the day appointment, you will not have a choice of appointment time or doctor; the first available appointment will be given. The emergency clinic runs from 08:30 and will be a face to face appointment.
You must always contact the surgery if you cannot attend an appointment. If any patient continually does not attend an appointment without letting the surgery know in advance, they may be asked to register at another practice and subsequently removed from our list. The Gill Medical Centre teaches junior doctors and medical students.
Non-urgent advice: Cancel an Appointment
The practice follows a strict non-attendance policy. We ask you to attend appointments on time or give adequate notice of cancellation. If a patient does not attend on more than 3 occasions (dependent upon circumstances for not notifying the practice) they will be asked to find another GP.
To cancel, you can:
Call us on 0161 790 3033 to cancel your appointment.
Or use Patient Access to cancel an appointment.
Telephone Consultations
Should you require a telephone consultation with a doctor, please ask the receptionist.
We do prefer patients to be seen face to face. The doctor will do their best to call you within an hour of the appointment time. The doctor will try to call you twice, if both calls are missed then you will be asked to rebook.
Chaperones
If you would prefer to have a chaperone during your consultation, please inform the staff when making your appointment and we make the necessary arrangements.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11:00.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under 5 years.
