Dr Awan Resignation

Dr Awan has very sadly issued this statement today:

“I, Dr Awan, will sadly resign as a partner from the Gill Medical Centre on the 13th April 2021 after five years of dedicated service.

I was disappointed by the Government’s slow and mismanaged response to the pandemic, the failure of NHS leadership to challenge this response and the resultant disproportionate rate of deaths amongst ethnic minority patients and healthcare workers. I do not feel I can ethically continue to work for the NHS until these discrepancies are addressed.

The practice has ensured that the Gill Medical Centre will be able to continue to provide excellent clinical care upon my departure by the recruitment of Dr. E. Mole, an excellent experienced GP. I will continue practising as a doctor when I leave the NHS in April 2021. I have respect and admiration for my patients and colleagues at the Gill, whom I will miss greatly”.

I am sure you will join me in thanking him for his dedication to patient care, looking after his colleagues and to wish him every success in his future endeavours.
